At Betty's home Veronica is getting ready for her date with Nick. Nick then shows up and hits on Betty until Veronica shows up. Much later the next day Nick and Veronica finally show up. The next week at school Ms. Grundy assigns the class to write an essay. Later Nick forces Dilton to write his paper, but when he refuses Nick tries to hit him when Archie stops him. Coach Clayton then proposes they fight in the school gym to settle the argument. The fight leaves Archie with a black eye and a broken jaw when Coach stops the fight and Nick says the fight isn't over.
