Northanger Abbey
This is Jane Austen's shortest novel, published posthumously in 1818. It is a mockery on the then prevailing pattern of Gothic fiction. The story revolves around Catherine Moorland and her travails into the mysteries enveloping the Northanger Abbey, residence of the eccentric General Tilney.
Jane Austen (1775-1817) was born at Stevenson, Hampshire. Author of classics like Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, she is one of the most frequently re-read authors of English Literature who provided new dimensions to literary style and narrative art.
