Anil Gharai (Bengali: অনিল ঘড়াই) is a Bengali writer from the state of West Bengal in India.He was born on 1 November 1957 in Rukminipur village near Egra in what is now Purba Medinipur district. His first short story was published in 1990 in Desh patrika. He was an author of 74 books. He was also a railway signal and telecommunication engineer in Indian Railways and worked as the Principal of Signal Telecommunication Training Institute, South Eastern Railway, Kharagpur. Apart from a very reputed writer Mr. Gharai was a very soft-spoken, kind hearted, cool-postured and ever-ready-to-help Gentleman. In spite of his serious health problem which he never exposed and surprisingly always ahead of others in extending his helping hand to people in need and helpless state.
